Ladder-backed Woodpecker, a new species for us!
Albuquerque

So beautiful!!!

We were going to look for a Ladder-backed Woodpecker (along with other birds) at Rio Grande State Park. However, we arrived just a few minutes before the park closed, so we had to leave. Thankfully, when we got out of the car nearby to get a closer look at some White-winged Doves (a common urban dove that is also a new species for us), there was a Ladder-backed Woodpecker tapping in a street tree! We got tons of good pics, and it let us get fairly close!
