7.6.26 Palmisano Park (bees), Chicago, IL

Yellow Bumble Bee! Also known as the Golden Northern Bumble Bee, it is a threatened species. Today, my family and I saw not just one but two! It requires super high-quality grassland, so it is a sighn of how amazing a prairie Palmisano is.

You know, since I started taking pic of bug in July 2023, most of the bumble bees I've seen are Common Easterns. But this year, I've seen so many brown-belts and two-spots but only a handful of common easterns. On  happier note, invasive Western Honey Bee populations seem to be taking a nosedive.
