Ima spotted a bunch of mushrooms growing under a tree in a parking lot. When we drove closer, I realized they where Shaggy Manes! I got out and took tons of photos, and they where so cool! While they are choice edibles and apparently quite tasty, in the environment we found them in they would be bad for you and potentially deadly. You see, shaggy manes and various other otherwise edible fungi can accumulate heavy metals in their mushrooms several times more than soil concentrations. Because mat asphalt and several other toxic fumes that can accumulate to dangerous level in the soil were in the area, I told my family these mushrooms could be deadly. And while we weren't planning on eating them, I am telling you that there is more to mushroom edibility than species.
